Open Studios this Weekend

This year I have been officially sent on the marketing and promotional trail for Rogue Artists' Studios, more specifically in the last few months gearing up for this years Open Studios. It is a huge task, but one I am really enjoying. It has given me the opportunity to get to know the work of all the resident artists (yep... all 90 of them) as I have researched everyone's practice for the #90days90artists campaign. In the last three months, everyday one of Rogue's artists have been showcased on Twitter and Facebook, leading to loads more followers, likers and shares. Before this, I only knew the work of the artists on my floor (there are three floors in total) and even then I was a bit sketchy. I always felt that was a shame, as I knew there was some real talent at Rogue.

I had always felt that my studio group needed an injection of energy in its social media. I wanted the world to know about what we are doing as we busy ourselves in this 'still working' textile mill at the back of Piccadilly Station in central Manchester. It is true to say, we are an ambitious bunch, showing regularly both nationally and internationally and we deserve the promotion.

As an ongoing thread, alongside the #90days90artists campaign I have been notifying Rogue's followers of the exhibitions, publications, art fairs and blogs the artists based there are in. People can now keep up-to-date with the goings-on here.

Now, instead of being frustrated that things I am doing don't get publicity though my networks - other than through my own personal ones, I am happy that not only myself, but other artists are benefiting from having Rogue's social media platforms firmly established.

I felt that whilst promoting this years Open Studios, it was important to show a set of images that represented Rogue well and truly. It is a dirty old building, with chipped stairwells, flaking paintwork, domino-like columns and laminated notices. All this makes for great inspiration, so I hope that the below images (you might have seen them doing the rounds of Rogues Social Media) just justice to our creative home.

Let me know what you think and see you at the Open Studios this weekend?
(The opening party is this Friday 19th September 6-9pm, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st 12-5pm, by appointment Monday 22nd - Sunday 28th 12-5pm).

ROGUE ARTISTS STUDIOS
OPEN STUDIOS 2014

Opening Party: Friday 19th September (6-9pm)
Open Weekend: Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st   (12-5pm)
By appointment: Monday 22nd – Sunday 28th  (12-5pm)

Rogue Artists Studios are delighted to be opening their doors for the annual Open Studios on Friday 19th September until Sunday 21st September. Rogue is home to over 90 artists, working across all disciplines, many of whom are exhibiting regularly at a national and international level.

Rogue Open Studios 2014 gives you a rare opportunity to meet the artists behind the work and gain a glimpse into the studios where the creative process takes place. It is a chance to view, commission or purchase original, contemporary art.

The annual Open Studios enables people to take a tour through the fascinating industrial labyrinth across three floors of Crusader Mill, which is home to a thriving artistic community. It is a rare chance to see an enormous range of artwork and to meet some of the North’s leading contemporary artists. This event will highlight the incredible diversity and concentration of artists working in Manchester.

This year, for the first time ever, Rogue artists will be available for meetings (by appointment) from the Open Studios big weekend right up to the start of the Asia Art Triennial and The Manchester Contemporary art fair the following weekend. This gives visitors a full week to experience the range of artistic practice in the city, and to enjoy some of the most exciting contemporary art in the UK.
